2014 is just around the corner, so it’s time to look ahead and see what the future holds for us.
First up is Wildstar Online. This game is developped by Carbine Studios and published by NCsoft. Carbine Studios was founded by a group of former employees of Blizzard Entertainment. Now the company consists of people who worked on major game-titles like Diablo, Starcraft, World of Warcraft, Everquest, Warhammer Online, City of Heroes,… Sounds promising, no ?
I could write a whole bunch of text about what Wildstar Online is all about, but that would be quite boring, so why not let Wildstar Online introduce itself.
The game will feature 2 factions: The Dominion and the Exiles. Each faction has it 4 playable races: Cassian, Mechari, Draken and Chua for the Domionion. And Mordesh, Granok, Aurin and ofcourse humans for the Exiles. The player classes are Warrior, Esper, Medic, Stalker, Engineer and Spellslinger, which are available for both factions, but not for all classes. This all sounds a bit like WoW to me, especially since every class can be played as 2 out of 3 roles. Those 3 roles are (you’ve guess it): DPS, Tank and Healer. Once again, i’ll let Wildstar do the talking. At least their explanation is funny
What is really interesting is the business model. You can either pay a monthly fee, like most of the classic MMO’s or you can use C.R.E.D.D.
CREDD can be purchased online, and then be put up for sale in-game to get gold. So it allows people with actual money to get ”easy” gold from other players. And it allows players who do not want to pay each month, but have gold to buy it from them. And those players who bought CREDD, can use it to buy game time.
Wildstar Online is schedulded for the first half of 2014, and you can register for the beta here.
